POINTS COST
On each unit sheet for the fighting vehicles and troopers there is a points cost
. This number represents how powerful the unit is - the higher
the value the more powerful the unit's fighting abilities. When fighting battles you and your opponent can agree a maximum number of points
for each side to ensure your armies are fairly matched. So, if you were fighting a 500 point battle, neither army would be allowed to have
more than 500 points' worth of units. How those points are made up is entirely up to you so long as you don't go over the agreed amount.
When you start to add extra units to your ROBOGEAR armies, the Points Cost adds to the strategy by making you think hard about what units you
choose to make up your army. Visit WWW.ROBOGEAR.RII to find out about other units in the ROBOGEAR range.
HOW A UNIT SHOOTS
All units are armed with weapons that can shoot, sometimes with lots of weapons! These come in two different types, what's known as real
and virtual weapons. REAL WEAPONS
are those that you can actually fire yourself by pressing the trigger on the model. VIRTUAL WEAPONS
are
those that you can't shoot yourself but we pretend they fire resolving this with die rolls. You don't have to actually fire the real weapons
yourself if you don't want to.
On the unit sheet you can see what weapons it's armed with as well as the weapon's damage capacity - which we'll come to shortly.
To fire one of your unit's weapons requires you to spend one of its resource points. You can fire as many weapons as you like as long as
you've got enough resource points to do so - but you can only fire a particular weapon once during the turn, so you can't spend four resource
points to fire it four times!
Shooting At Squards
When you want to shoot a squad of troopers you must target the trooper closest to your unit - you can't just shoot at whoever you want.
If you are using real firing, however, you don't have to obey this rule.
LINE OF SIGHT
To shoot at an enemy your unit must have a line of sight or in other words the unit must be able to "see it". If there is
something between the two units completely obscuring one from the other, then you aren't allowed to shoot at it. Your unit
doesn't have to see all of the enemy unit though, but as long as you can draw an unobstructed straight line from your unit to
the target unit you can make a shot.
MOVING AND SHOOTING
Your units can both move and shoot as long as you've got enough resources to do so. If a unit has 5 resource points you could move
6 steps (3 resource) and fire 2 of its weapons, or any other combination.
