Lord Shindgy
Among numerous members of Empire Legion Lord Shindgy was the most successful. He had never gained great victories like Lord Cross, but he had
never suffered defeats either. In the course of his career he went from one success to another. For the first time a young officer of the Empire
fleet, Harikaru Shindgy, ethnic Japanese proved himself some years before the First Wave of Intrusion. Heading a small detachment of destroyers
he smashed a pirate fleet that several times exceeded his group in total tonnage. During the First Wave of Intrusion, Shindgy was not in front
lines, but he showed himself excellently as a commander of convoys supplying the advancing Empire army. The star hour of Lord Shindgy came during
the Second Wave of Intrusion. When Lord Cross had been defeated on Line 3, there appeared a breach in the Empire front and several star systems
turned out absolutely unprotected. The breach opened a direct way to the richest and the most industrially developed planets, which had been
captured during the First Wave of Intrusion. Only the detached squadron of Lord Shindgy was located in one of these systems and he managed to
stop the counterattack of the Protectorate forces. His stubborn resistance in the system of Lorke held up the Protectorate troops for the time
sufficient for closing the breach. By the time when the Empire troops arrived in Lorke system, only two ships and less than 2,000 people remained
from Shindgy’s squadron, which before the battle had numbered 40 ships and over 100,000 people. The remaining ships were so damaged that could
not fly any more, but continued taking part in the battle using their long-range artillery. Lord Shindgy proved himself not only a high-class
tactician, but also a perfect warrior. For this heroic defense Shindgy was decorated with Empire Bloody Ribbon for personal heroism. Before him,
only three men had received this decoration not posthumously
During the Third Wave of Intrusion, unlike many other Lords, who were mainly busy with quelling rebels on earlier captured
planets, Lord Shindgy was at the very point of the Empire attack. Besides the defense of Lorke, Lord Shindgy was also famous for capturing
the planet-ocean Poseidon, his successful attack on asteroid cities in the system of Broken Wings and quelling of a religious rebellion on
Delusion.
