South-East Quadrant of Polaris Empire

Lord Alexey Dolgorukiy

Been outlawed and hardly escaped death penalty during Usurpation, Alexey Dolgorukiy was a spiritual inspirer of the crusade that led to the dethronement of Usurper Diego. But, as it often happens, after the victory the ways of the uprising organizers separated. Alexey Dolgorukiy, who pretended to a leading part in the revived Empire, had not come to an agreement with Regent Victor. However their “divorce” was peaceful – Alexey was appointed Lord-Governor of South-East Quadrant and in this way debarred from active political life of the Inner Empire. Only a year later, Alexey achieved great successes in the economy of his quadrant and actually separated from the Inner Empire, though from the formal standpoint he remained Lord-Governor of one of provinces. In spite of this fact, though the relations between the Inner Empire and South-East Quadrant grew cool, but remained quite good-neighbor. Three years later, Regent issued the decree, which de facto declared “special rights” and actual independence of this part of the Empire. As a result, remaining a part of the Empire according to the letter of the law, South-East Quadrant under the leadership of Alexey Dolgorukiy turned into an independent though allied to the Empire’s state. Not wishing to aggravate the relations and produce problems for his political ally, from year to year Regent Victor issues decrees confirming Alexey’s authorities as Lord-Governor. Being mere formality, these decrees allow Alexey Dolgorukiy to avoid the question about the political structure and legality of his state.

Lord Alexey Dolgorukiy stubbornly refuses to conclude an alliance with other Lords though exchanging with them unofficial embassies. He practically does not communicate with the Protectorate owing to his obligation to Regent. However this situation cannot last for long – South-East Quadrant has an extensive border with Empire Confederation, in which many worlds have already flamed up in the fire of Colonial Wars becoming the loot of the Protectorate Colonial Corporations.
