Fleet in Regent’s Time

In spite of the fact that under Usurper the Empire fleet reduced in number, total tonnage and firepower in comparison with the military-space forces of the times of the Intrusion, it retained its combatant value. This became possible because at the very start of his governing Regent Victor initiated the reorganization, technical re-equipment and standardization of warships in the fleet. A great variety of ship classes were brought to two battle units – cruiser and battleship.

While the Empire cruisers of the Intrusion epoch were specialized ships, then under Victor cruiser became a universal tool for fulfilling combat missions. A new cruiser can make long solitary voyages. It carries powerful armament – from 1 to 3 ordnance of heavy caliber, these energy cannons can sometimes inflict critical damage even on battleships. Cruisers’ power shields provide them high survivability. In the cruisers’ hangars there are “light wings” – gunboats, landing shuttles, interceptors. A company of commandos is also attached to each cruiser. The inspection of ships, destruction of pirates’ bases, quelling minor revolts – all these are imposed as a duty on the commando company. On the whole, a cruiser is equipped with everything required for solving the widest range of missions.

Very soon the new Empire cruiser gained the symbolic nickname “Empire Will”. Hanging over a problem planet, a base ship of the Empire Fleet very distinctly brings Regent’s words to the rebellious subjects. If there are many such subjects and a single cruiser does not make them understand then, according to the scale of the task, from three to five cruisers are joined in a brigade.

If cruisers are “Empire Will” – battleships are impartially called “Empire Anger”. The ships of shock fleet, survived dreadnoughts and super dreadnoughts of the Empire were reequipped and combined into the battleship class. There are only few of them. 18 battleships are allotted to 6 sector fleets of Polaris Empire and 5 more the most powerful ships form a part of the restored by Regent Empire Legion and “frighten” merchants flying up to Polaris Prime.
