Description / application in missions

This is a walking tank developed on the basis of Mad Bull. The armament, Wild Bear equipped with, makes it dangerous at any range. It starts destroying its target already at a long distance. While approaching it rains down on the opponent still more powerful flow of fire, in which it is almost impossible to survive. Wild Bear together with Devastator is considered a “robot killer”.

Wild Bear is an ordinary walking tank designed on the basis of the first Empire monoblock UM-1. The military demanded insistently for a cheap, ordinary machine heavily armed with conventional weapons. So the machine was equipped with a four-barreled machine-gun and six-barreled 20 mm cannon that are able to produce a real fire squall. The artillery armament is supplemented with a twin launcher for heavy guided missile. Due to all these weapons, the machine is overloaded with ammunition and the designers had to reduce its armor. But this fact didn’t prevent Wild Bear from becoming the main fighting machine of the Polaris Empire ground forces – a real ordinary walking tank – powerful, reliable, well protected. Wild Bears were delivered to the regular units only by the end of the war and practically didn’t take part in the Third Wave of the Empire Intrusion. But it is known for sure that several Wild Bears took part in the battle for Rusty Splinter. Raiders have an ambiguous attitude towards this fighting machine. On one hand, they rate highly its firepower and low price. However raiders had to fulfill long autonomous missions in the enemy’s space and they rarely choose Wild Bears, because these machines demand too much room for their ammunition. On the opposite, the pilots of anti-raid groups like these machines very much due to their ability to destroy the enemy with its firepower in a few seconds. Wild Bear became an ideal walking tank for transient anti-raid operations

The armament of the ordinary walking tank Wild Bear:

--Four-barreled machine-gun of 7.62 caliber MG-442X4. This standard model of a machine-gun has been used all over inhabited Space for a very long time. This is one of the most reliable kinds of existing firearms.
-- Twin missile launcher “Storm” for heavy self-guided missiles R-9. These heavy missiles are reliable and powerful weapon at medium and long ranges, they served the reputation of the main impact force on the battlefield and “robot killer”. The Empire model of these missiles (the analogue of the Protectorate’s Mk11) and the missile launcher “Assault” were developed by the Empire Directorate of Missile Weaponry.
-- Six-barreled automatic cannon of 20 mm caliber ARC-20X6. This is one of the most widespread models of artillery armament in the Galaxy. This design was developed still before pre-space epoch and it is successfully applied until now. It is used as a standard weapon for various types of fighting machines. The automatic cannon has a high damaging effect at short and medium distances. This cannon is insufficiently effective at long ranges.
