Description / application in missions

It is an assault caterpillar vehicle and designed for breaking fortified front lines and for close combat with enemy fighting machines. Besides its main designation, it also can be used for neutralization of enemy weapon emplacements. Nowadays, it is the most powerful vehicle in its class. For the first time a unit of Demolishers was applied in the battle on Rusty Splinter.

Having evaluated the experience of the application of caterpillar machines equipped with close combat weapons, the Empire strategists demanded from the designers a new model of such a fighting machine. Demolisher, an assault caterpillar machine intended for breaking through artificial fortification lines and close combat with the enemy machines, carries special instruments for these purposes. A huge fist-manipulator and an armored dozer blade can inflict damage to any walking tank or make a way in an artificial fortification line. Its six-barreled cannon and a couple of heavy missiles give serious firepower to Demolisher. This is the most powerful of existing assault caterpillar machines and besides it has the strongest armor. Demolisher was developed taking into account the battle experience obtained on Velian. There the Empire troops were lacking for a strongly armed assault caterpillar machine similar to the Protectorate Tornado. Having lost a great deal of fighting machines in street fighting, the Empire military decided to get a machine able to overcome easily any obstructions and take active part in close combat for the future. Just because of this Demolisher is equipped with the armored dozer blade. This is not only a tool for clearing any kinds of obstructions, but also it is an effective close combat weapon. For the first time Demolisher was applied massively in the battle on Rusty Splinter. When the Empire convoy fell into a deadly tectonic trap, just Demolishers could rescue the few survived by breaking the way through with their armored dozer blades for the remained armored machines.

The armament of the assault caterpillar machine Demolisher:

-- Six-barreled automatic cannon of 20 mm caliber ARC-20X6. This is one of the most widespread models of artillery armament in the Galaxy. This design was developed still before pre-space epoch and it is successfully applied until now. It is used as a standard weapon for various types of fighting machines. The automatic cannon has a high damaging effect at short and medium distances. This cannon is insufficiently effective at long ranges.
-- Twin missile launcher “Storm” for heavy self-guided missiles R-9. These heavy missiles are reliable and powerful weapon at medium and long ranges, they served the reputation of the main impact force on the battlefield and “robot killer”. The Empire model of these missiles (the analogue of the Protectorate’s Mk11) and the missile launcher “Storm” were developed by the Empire Directorate of Missile Weaponry.
-- Battle fist-manipulator. This is the most effective manipulator of close combat. This huge hydraulic hand is able to clench fist or to grasp the opponent.
-- Armored dozer blade. This is not only a tool for clearing any kinds of obstructions, but also it is an effective close combat weapon.
